How Police Bharti works

Maharashtra Police constable recruitment is run unit by unit. District police, police commissionerates and SRPF groups each advertise their own posts, and candidates apply to one unit. Recruitment comes in cycles, when posts are approved, rather than on a fixed yearly date, so batches often have to be ready at short notice.

Under the 2022 recruitment rules, the physical test comes first.

• Physical test, 50 marks: a 1,600 m run, a 100 m run and shot put for men; an 800 m run, a 100 m run and shot put for women. Candidates need at least 50% to move on to the written test.
• Written test, 100 marks: 100 objective questions in 90 minutes, 25 each on arithmetic, general knowledge and current affairs, intelligence and Marathi grammar. The paper is in Marathi.
• Merit: physical and written marks are added together, and cut-offs differ from unit to unit.

Recent cycles have had no negative marking in the written test. Check each unit’s advertisement, since details can change between cycles.

What Police Bharti batches need from a test platform

Institutes running these batches spend the mornings on the ground and the afternoons on the written syllabus. The test platform has to fit around that.

• Marathi throughout. Questions, options and solutions written in Marathi, not translated, because the paper and its grammar section demand it.
• The real pattern. 100 questions in 90 minutes across four equal sections, so students learn to pace themselves.
• Tests that suit a phone. Many aspirants practise on a shared phone with limited data, so tests have to load quickly and read well on small screens.
• Short tests between mocks. Grammar and arithmetic drills, so weak sections improve before the next cycle opens.
• Ranks across your batches. Students want to know where they stand among others preparing at the same time.

No test platform tracks ground training. Keep running times and shot-put distances in your own register; the platform handles the written side.

A weekly rhythm that works around ground training

One simple pattern for the written side, which fits around morning ground practice:

• Monday: review class on last week’s full mock, section by section.
• Tuesday and Thursday: 25-question drills in Marathi grammar and arithmetic, 20 minutes each.
• Wednesday: reasoning practice. Friday: general knowledge and current affairs.
• Sunday: a full 100-question mock at a fixed time, with the rank list shared that evening.

Short drills keep weak sections moving, and the Sunday mock builds the 90-minute stamina the real paper needs.

The draft Maharashtra coaching law

On 20 August 2026, Maharashtra published a draft Private Coaching Centres (Registration and Regulation) Act, 2026. As drafted, it would require any centre coaching more than 25 students for a fee to register each branch online, keep digital student records for 10 years, issue fee receipts and follow set refund rules, with fines for breaches.

It is a draft, not law. It drew 11,410 suggestions and objections by 7 September 2026 and more than 15,000 by 17 September. Coaching associations have asked for major changes, including a higher registration threshold, and its final form is unsettled. Treat the points above as the draft’s proposals, not rules in force today.

Police Bharti aspirants often come from nearby villages and choose an institute by word of mouth. A rank list with your name on it, shared in the batch WhatsApp group after every mock, keeps that word of mouth pointing at you rather than at a national app.
